Evening Standard, 31 August 1995, by Simon Perry "Rocky Robbie takes that acting in his stride" ----------------------------------------------------------- FORMER Take That star Robbie Williams surprised a West End audience early today when he appeared in The Rocky Horror Show. To wild and prolonged cheers, he suddenly emerged in the heroine's arms, wearing a white vest, gold G-string and boots. Without saying a word, he was gone in five minutes. Robbie, 21, was on stage with heroine Janet, played by Joanne Farrell, for a special performance of the musical which raised about £10,000 for the children's charity Rainbow. The idea for the one-off show came from Tony Head, who plays Frank N Furter. Other special guests at the Duke of York's theatre included Nigel Planer, who took the place of Nicholas Parsons as the narrator, and Shane Richie, who played wild motorcyclist Eddie. There was even a chance to raise the spectre of Robbie's old band-mates. As the character Dr Scott looked around the motley crew on stage he cried out: "I see he was hanging around with a worse crowd than I imagined." And the crowd, as normal, yelled back: "Yes, actors." But Dr Scott answered: "No, Take That".
