The Express, 27 March 2002, by Jennifer Selway. "TV Express: on last night's TV." ----------------------------------------------------------- [.....] There's something about *Manchild* (BBC2) which (not expecting to be entertained by a comedy on the male mid-life crisis) I really like. The sheer joie de vivre sets it apart from so much else on TV. The scripts are clever and the cast are wonderful and work perfectly as an ensemble as they lounge in clubs, pubs and Turkish baths. Nigel Havers' line in pained selfmockery gets better as he gets older. Don Warrington's Epicurean smugness could be spread on toast; Ray Burdis and Lindsey Coulson make the perfect nouveau riche couple; and it's wonderful to see Anthony Head released from *Buffy* duty. Last night he swapped his customary cigar (what Nige called a "sacred organ of masculinity") from a briar pipe and, being a big silly, had to practise with his new toy in front of a mirror. Well, it made me laugh. ----------------------------------------------------------- Bentley's Bedlam http://www.BetsyDa.com/bedlam.html This website is for information and entertainment purposes only and is not intended to infringe on copyrights held by others.
