Tuesday, April 30

Obviously, I'm not very good at this blogging thing. I'm making another attempt, this time at LiveJournal (http://bentleywg.livejournal.com). I might keep BentleyBlog still running; I'm not really sure. In the meantime, check out the LiveJournal.

A trend:

In the past year or so, my friends have started having babies. In almost every case, the parents were not newlyweds. All but one couple had been married for several years and a couple of them had been together for several years before that. And yet, for some reason, they all started having babies now. First, Jonathan and Andrea. Then, in April, Joe and Nicole. A couple of months later, Amy and Jody. Around New Year's, Jeff and Chris. And now Sarah and Tim. And I think I'm forgetting someone else who belongs on that list, but I'm blanking it on who it is. Even without counting that baby, it's a regular population explosion.

* 2001 birth rates around the world, according to the World Factbook.

* National birth data for the United States, from the National Center for Health Statistics.

Free books yesterday, banned books today.

The American Library Association's Banned Books Week page has lists of banned and challenged books and more info, quotes, and links on the subject.

The Online Books Page has a page about censorship and banned books. Several good links, including one to a page about the history of Shakespeare censorship.
