Transcript (by Karen Topinka):
Starts out with music from Commercials - topic is commercials, commercial stars, and commercial theme songs.
Fabio is the first guest, then Wendy Kaufman (Snapple Lady) and then Tony Head and Sharon Maughan.
Commercial break, then Oprah shows what is then the latest Taster's Choice ad - Jeremy at dinner with Tony and Sharon.
Oprah Winfrey: Please welcome the Taster's Choice couple - Sharon Maughan and Tony Head.
OW: Who here, everybody knows about the Taster's Choice couple. How long has this ad been going on?
Sharon Maughan: Four years.
OW: Four years? Seems longer - it seems like its always been there. The other day I happened to see this particular commercial - the most recent. How many have you done?
Tony Head: This was the tenth? Ten, yeah.
OW: I happened to see this one, I haven't seen one in a long time. I don't watch that much television. But I thought, are they now having an affair? Is this about... what's going on?
SM: Who knows about sex? I don't know about sex.
TH: We drink a lot of coffee though. {lots of laughter during this part}
OW: So how many more are planned? Are we going to meet the husband later?
TH: I hope so.
OW: When you first started did you know it was this whole series and it was going to develop into many, many many, many more?
SM: We knew there was a concept for a series 'cause this series was conceived in England.
TH: 7 years ago?
SM: Yeah, and it was very successful there and this is a completely different - this is geared specifically towards the American market.
OW: Meaning what?
TH: Just the story lines---{Tony starts laughing}
OW: Meaning, meaning sex.
TH: The story line has developed more than it did in England. In England it became a bit linear and it went to about 10 and that was about as far as it could go. And here its broadened.
SM: Its really opened out and it seems to be working. I mean, we didn't have anything like husbands, sons or lovers or anything in the English campaign so and its really been geared towards the level of interest in this country which seems very high.
OW: We're thinking, you all should do a mini series and just have the little Tasters Choice bottle on the side. A mini series. So there's more to come actually?
SM and TH: Yeah, there are.
OW: You really are series actors. I know you're doing a play in L.A.
TH: I'm doing a series for Fox which will be airing in March, March 10th on Friday Nights.
OW: And how does it make you feel? You're doing all this other serious work and then people say there's the Taster's Choice guys?
TH: It's great. I don't know whether - I'd probably be here anyways. Its given us both an international face. How can you turn your back on something...
OW: How long does it take to do one of those -- like the one we just saw? Is it an all day, all week...
TH and SM: Couple of days.
SM: We do 2 a year. So far.
TH: But its intense isn't it?
SM: Its hard work, we're exhausted.
-- segment ends - commercial break - Mikey comes out. No more Tony and Sharon.
